Glossary definition: Vulnerability

Vulnerability: Identifying & Mitigating Risk

Vulnerability is a state of being open to potential harm, either physically, emotionally, or psychologically. It can refer to a person's susceptibility to physical injury, emotional distress, or psychological damage. It is often associated with feelings of insecurity, fear, and helplessness. Vulnerability can also refer to an individual's susceptibility to exploitation or manipulation by others. It can be a result of a person's physical, emotional, or mental state, or a combination of all three. Vulnerability can be both positive and negative, depending on the circumstances. Positively, it can be a sign of openness and trust, while negatively, it can be a sign of weakness and susceptibility to harm.
