ASIC Regulatory Guide 234: Advertising financial products and services (including credit): Good practice guidance
Consumers are heavily influenced by advertisements for products and services when making financial decisions and seeking financial advice. ASIC has developed good practice guidance to help promoters comply with their legal obligations to not make false or misleading statements or engage in misleading or deceptive conduct. This guidance applies to any communication intended to advertise financial products, financial advice services, credit products or credit services. ASIC encourages industry bodies to develop guidelines, standards or codes that build on this good practice guidance and respond to the specific needs of the sector. While the primary responsibility for advertising material rests with the organisation placing the advertisement, publishers and media outlets may also have some responsibility for content.
